Rivers

Hand painted maps with fibre reactive dye on silk, Montreal, Quebec, November 2006.

Rivers (roots run down like rivers run through like veins run across the heart) was a project inspired by bodies of water I know in the Outaouais region, where I grew up. They are painted on silk with fibre reactive dyes, interpreting maps of the region. They were made in the Fall of 2006, when all my work was influenced by the theme of water. The four panels were suspended in air from fish line in a collaborative textile exhibit at a local venue and community gathering space.
